Magic

Of course there must be lots of Magic in the world,” he said wisely one day, “but people don’t know what it is like or how to make it. Perhaps the beginning is just to say nice things are going to happen until you make them happen. I am going to try and experiment.

~ Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

Once upon a time, I was walking alone along a dusty path. Completely lost in my own thoughts, I was worrying and most likely fretting about something now long forgotten. Even though I wasn’t paying any attention, something made me notice the incredible shadow cast by these branches.

I stopped, took a quick picture, and was back on my way.

It wasn’t until much later, when I was looking for a photograph to use for a blog post that I saw them: my wings.

Magic.

So what, you may ask, is magic? It is a word used all of the time in lots of different ways for lots of different purposes. If you ask five different people, you might get five different definitions.

For me, magic is the moment of connection between me and the Mystery.

Magic is the tingle, the wonder, the enchantment. Magic is the belief in something more. Magic is the delight, the help, the wink, the words, the Divine, the angels, the unexplainable, the miracle, the holy.

Magic is the moments when we remember who we are.

And I believe that finding those moments – and actively participating in them – can change our lives.

Today and everyday and always, I send you so much love.
