“Home development is about wishful thinking. It’s about capturing a dream.” ~ Barbara Delinsky
Home. I’ve written about it. I’ve thought about it. I’ve dreamed about it. I’ve avoided wanting it. I’ve procrastinated designing it. I’ve worried about it. I’ve philosophised about it. I’ve longed for it.
I’ve never lived somewhere I have chosen.
Oh, I have chosen to be many places, but the places I have lived while I was there were not my choosing.
But it’s finally happening.
We are building our home and my mythology about home is about to change in an enormous way.
I’m so very lost on the way to being so very found.
Today we are going with our builder to stake it all out; to draw the lines that he will fill in with concrete and steel and wood (with a few crystals added by me for good measure).
It doesn’t technically start today – we’ve been dreaming and permit-getting and designing and visioning and talking and emailing for over a year – but today is when the dirt begins to move.
I thought I would be afraid, but all I am is grateful.
I’d love it if you would sign up for my newsletter.
I’ll be writing about: building our home, building our labyrinth, books I am reading, tools I am using (from crystals to hammers), friends I am meeting (animal, vegetable, mineral and a few humans), things and people that are inspiring me, the magic that I am finding, and generally documenting what it is like to build a life in the jungle. The first one comes out next week.
